Youth Baptism

Baptism is an important decision in the life of a believer. Baptism is a public announcement that you have put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ!

Baptism is a great illustration of Jesus' burial and resurrection. It's also a picture of our new life as a Christian. The Bible says in Romans 6:4, "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

It's important to understand that baptism does not "save" you. In other words, baptism doesn't make you a believer; it demonstrates that you already believe. You are saved only by grace through faith in Jesus. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

If you have already signed up to be baptized, here are some details to help you prepare for this special occasion.

BEFORE YOUR BAPTISM:

  • Make sure you complete the Student Baptism Class. This class is offered on the Sunday BEFORE your baptism in room A-109 at 9:00am. Parents are welcome to attend this class as we explain the biblical purpose of baptism and help answer your questions.
  • Start inviting your family and friends to attend your baptism service. Student baptisms take place at 11am during the DRIVEN worship service. (NOTE: When you sign up to be baptized, we will send you a confirmation letter with the date of your baptism.)

ON THE DAY OF YOUR BAPTISM:

  • Please wear dark clothing (i.e. a dark t-shirt and shorts).
  • Please bring a change of clothes with you.
  • Please bring a towel.
  • Please arrive no later than 10:30am and meet in room A-109. We have a professional photographer who will meet with you during this time. The Youth Ministry provides a free 5x8 framed black & white picture of your baptism.

Baptism is a huge spiritual marker in the life of a believer and we want to celebrate your decision in a huge way with your family and friends!
